Kinaura Partners conducted an independent, external review of the NCD Alliance to assess progress against its 2016–2020 Strategic Plan and to inform the Alliance’s next strategic phase (2021–2028). The review was designed not only to evaluate performance, but to help the Alliance reflect on its role, relevance, and organizational readiness amid a rapidly shifting global health landscape—particularly in the wake of COVID-19.
We applied a rigorous, participatory methodology that combined extensive desk research with workshops involving the Board of Directors and staff, as well as key informant interviews with members and external stakeholders. This process surfaced diverse perspectives on the Alliance’s organizational development, impact, achievements, and key challenges or missed opportunities over the previous five years. Drawing on these insights, Kinaura delivered strategic and organizational recommendations to help the Alliance adapt its positioning, partnerships, and ways of working for a post-pandemic world.
Following the development of the Alliance’s new Strategic Plan (2021–2026), Kinaura supported the design of a robust Results Framework to test core assumptions, clarify the Alliance’s unique role within the NCD ecosystem, and strengthen accountability and learning. This framework also helped position the Alliance to attract and sustain funding partners by clearly linking strategy, outcomes, and measurable impact.
