Kinaura Partners collaborated with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) to develop a new strategy for 2024–2026 alongside a robust annual report that reflected the organization’s evolving priorities and operating context. Working closely with ICM leadership and staff, Kinaura designed a participatory process that brought together member associations, donors, trained midwife leaders, and key partners to clarify strategic direction and build shared ownership of the path forward.
Kinaura facilitated a series of structured workshops with the ICM Board and Secretariat and conducted more than 15 in-depth stakeholder interviews to surface perspectives on ICM’s strengths, emerging challenges, and opportunities for greater impact. This process supported difficult but necessary strategic trade-offs—helping ICM prioritize where to focus, identify areas to deprioritize, and align resources with its most critical roles. Insights from across the network informed a refined strategic positioning grounded in the needs of member associations and the realities they face.
The resulting strategy positioned ICM to better support midwives and member associations responding to intersecting humanitarian and climate crises that disproportionately affect women and girls. By pairing inclusive engagement with clear strategic choices, Kinaura helped ICM strengthen alignment, focus, and readiness for the years ahead.
