Sofia works alongside the Infectious Diseases team at the Gates Foundation, applying a distinctive blend of relationship‑driven leadership, strategic communication, and operational excellence. With more than 17 years of experience spanning consulting, communications, public health, and change management, she has led the design and execution of high‑impact strategies that mobilize partners, strengthen organizational performance, and deliver measurable outcomes.
Previously, Sofia served as a senior communications and project management consultant, advising national health and advocacy organizations on messaging, strategy, and crisis preparedness. Earlier, she was senior communications manager at Trinity Health, one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States, where she led systemwide patient engagement strategy and served as crisis communications coordinator — project managing the national response to major public relations and public health challenges, including the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Sofia holds an MPH from the University of Michigan. She has lived or worked in the United States, Mexico, India, and Italy, and currently resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Outside of work, Sofia loves spending time outdoors, exploring with her son, and getting lost in a great book.
