As a senior consultant at Kinaura Partners, Miguel brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight in epidemiology, immunization, and global health systems. Working with the Immunization & Infectious Diseases team, he applies more than 25 years of leadership and program implementation experience to guide complex initiatives and strengthen decision‑making across diverse health contexts.
Miguel has collaborated with organizations such as MMGH Consulting and the Wellcome Trust, supporting efforts across Latin America to advance vaccinology, public health emergency preparedness, epidemiological surveillance, maternal and child health, and digital health innovation. He is recognized for forging strong relationships with governments, international agencies, donors, and NGOs, and for delivering measurable results through effective partnerships and operational execution.
Previously, Miguel served as director of epidemiological surveillance and director‑general for public health emergencies in the Mexican Ministry of Health. He also served as director of global solutions at the Carlos Slim Foundation, where he led international partnerships focused on global health, infectious diseases, vaccine development, and non‑communicable diseases (NCDs). Miguel has authored more than 30 international peer‑reviewed publications on neglected tropical diseases and vaccinology.
Miguel trained as an MD and paediatrician in Mexico City and holds both a DrPH and an MSc in health policy, planning, and financing from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has worked extensively across Latin America and the Caribbean and currently resides in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico.
Outside of work, Miguel enjoys camping, gourmet cooking and reading about world history.
