As a senior consultant at Kinaura Partners, Joyce Kyalo brings strong expertise in policy development, advocacy, and strategic communications. Working with Kinaura’s Africa Health and Gender Equality teams, she helps advance partner priorities by coordinating stakeholders, shaping evidence‑informed strategies, and guiding efforts that strengthen health and gender outcomes.

Joyce brings more than 20 years of experience working across Africa to expand access to quality health services for vulnerable communities, contributing to measurable improvements in coverage and outcomes. She partners with governments, development organizations, the private sector, and civil society to advance health financing reforms, develop investment cases, and strengthen accountability frameworks. Through close collaboration with ministries of health and a wide range of national and global institutions, she helps ensure that policies and funding decisions are practical, implementable, and aligned with country priorities. Her partners have included the Global Financing Facility (GFF), WaterAid, the Gates Foundation, and Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies.

Earlier in her career, Joyce worked in pharmaceutical and health product markets, gaining firsthand experience with last‑mile delivery of health technologies, which continues to inform her policy and systems‑level work. She has provided technical assistance on private‑sector engagement to strengthen supply chains and expand HIV services, conceptualized market‑based health solutions using the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach and served as a health systems specialist and health financing advisor. Joyce also reviewed abstracts on health financing for ICFP and co‑authored a study on the cost of HIV care in Kenya’s private sector, presented at IHEA.

Joyce holds an MPH in health economics, policy, and planning, an MBA in finance, and a BSc in double mathematics and chemistry. She has worked in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, and Ethiopia, and currently resides in Nairobi, Kenya.

Outside of work, Joyce enjoys travelling, dancing, and has a new interest in environmental greening.
