As a senior consultant, Esther has worked with the Climate, Health, and Development Team. She has supported teams at the Gates Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, The Legume Systems Innovation Lab, and CGIAR, among others. Within this portfolio, Esther brings social, gender insights and strategic partnership, research and data driven advisory. Esther has 20+ years of deep expertise in smallholder agriculture and Agri-food systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. She specializes in gender integration, capacity building, monitoring, and evaluation.

Previously, Esther worked as a Gender Senior Scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Institute in Kenya.

Esther holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Home Economics from Egerton University in Kenya, a Master of Science in Agriculture and Development Economics from Wageningen University and Research Centre in The Netherlands, and a PhD in Agriculture and Development Economics from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She has lived and worked from Kenya and supporting programs in Kenya as well as Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Mali, and India. She has raised five boys who are now young adults.

She enjoys philanthropic endeavors within her community, striving to make a day better for one person at a time.
